Q: What is healthy about corn?

A: Corn fiber is one of the best fibers one can consume. It lasts longer and goes further into the gut than other fiber, creating the right bacteria. This leads not only to good digestion, but also assists in the absorption of calcium and other nutrients, maintains the blood sugar levels and good gut health has been linked to good mental health. 

 Q: Does Maïzly Original contain sugar?
A: Yes, we add cane sugar. Our Maïzly Original contains just a quarter of the sugar of a dairy milk.

Q: Do Maïzly products contain seed, nut or vegetable oils?

A: No, Maïzly products contain coconut oil and not seed, nut or vegetable oils. Coconut oil is considered one of the three healthy plant-based oils, the others being olive oil and avocado oil. Coconut oil is very good for your skin complexion, your hair, nails, and teeth.

 Q: How is corn milk made?
A: Our recipe of ingredients is blended in a tank with water, it then passes through a homogeniser and a steriliser before being packed into aseptic packaging. All the water and raw materials end up in the final product.

Q: What are Sucrose Esters of Fatty Acids?

Sucrose esters of fatty acids are ingredients that help mix oil and water, making food smoother and more stable. They are made by combining sugar (sucrose) with fats from the likes of coconut oil in a special process.

These esters are safe to eat and offer some health benefits as they help the body absorb nutrients better and reduce the need for extra fat in foods, making them useful in low-fat and healthier options. They also aid digestion by helping fats break down more easily.

Q: What is Gellan Gum?

Gellan gum is a natural ingredient made from fermented bacteria. Functionally, it stabilizes ingredients, enhances mouthfeel, and improves shelf life. Health-wise, it is low in calories and supports digestion as a dietary fiber.

Q: How is Maïzly sustainable?
A: Corn is the most abundant crop in the world, allowing us to manufacture our products close to our markets, reducing “food miles”. Corn uses the least amount of land and water per ton of produce compared to any other crop in the world, making it the most sustainable. Maizly also contains chickpea protein; chickpeas, due to their shallow root system are also very water efficient and they put nitrogen back into the soil.

A: We use carton packaging, which is partially recyclable.

A: We add Tricalcium Citrate for calcium content, which is important for bone health. We also add soluble corn fiber to assist with the absorption of calcium.

Q: Do pesticides impact corn like they do oats?

Non-GMO corn is less impacted by pesticides than oats because it is a hard grain with a protective husk that shields the kernels from direct pesticide exposure. Unlike oats, which have a softer structure and are often sprayed with pesticides like glyphosate before harvest, corn’s outer layers reduce chemical absorption. Additionally, corn is typically treated with pesticides at earlier growth stages, meaning fewer residues remain on the final product. Since oats lack this protection and are sprayed later, they retain higher pesticide residues. As a result, non-GMO corn has lower pesticide exposure, making it a cleaner grain choice.
